Interview with Ersan
ESPN International
One of the best Turkish basketball players, Ersan Ilyasova for an interview will have an interview with ESPN Europe. Ersan is playing for Milwaukee Bucks right now and the team is the second best team in the league. This season is a breakthrough season for him as he is playing SF instead of PF, which he used to be in previous seasons.
ESPN: Ersan, could you tell us about your team in the league now? The Bucks is not a lotto team anymore, what changes did you guys make?
Ersan: We made several changes this season. We have a new GM who loves to talk with us and share our thoughts. For example, Brandon and I told him that some mentors could help us to improve ballgames, he got us Boris and Mike a few days later. Brandon and I were so glad that as we need some experienced players who with similar playing styles could guide us.
ESPN: So do you mean that Boris is your mentor now? What do you guys do in the playground?
Ersan: We chatted a lot. I love the stories he told me. He shared a lot how he played as a point forward. Actually he is the guy who suggested that it would be a good try to play as a sf. He told me it would be a waste as my shooting range is quite good. I told my GM after this and he gave me a try. The experience went well and everyone was happy about this.
ESPN: Seems that you are quite happy with your GM and your teammates. Who is your best mate?
Ersan: I admire Andrew a lot. He is the team true leader and he is funny guy to hang around with. We all saw the high five video, right? That’s how funny he is. He started the Squad Six and paid for the fans to watch the game. He brought the teams with fans support and that’s a big boost for us to play well.
ESPN: Your contract would be expired this season. Would you love to stay in this team?
Ersan: I would love to stay in this team. I am glad that the team bought me a tutor who helped me explore. The team is the second best team in the league so far. I used to live in this area and the neighbor. I am fine with a pay cut as I am playing with my friends and mentors. The fans love me and I love to have their supports.
But what I am concerning now is my agent does not want me to play in here. I want to play in a winning team and with my friends but my agent concerns on how much cash he could get from me by signing contracts. I know my GM followed ALL the advises from my agent but still could not please him. I HOPE I COULD FIRE HIM but I know I could not do so. Rumors said that MY AGENT WOULD NOT HELP ME TO SIGN THE CONTRACT WITH BUCKS IF THERE IS NO TEAM OFFERING ANY CONTRACT IN THE FA PERIOD AND I MIGHT HAVE TO GO BACK TO TURKEY AGAIN. This hurts my career and I really want to be a part of Bucks and bring glory to the city.
Fans in Bradley Stadium are showing their love !
Espn: It is a bit sad about your situation. Hope that you could find a way to solve the problem.
Ersan: I talked with my GM few days ago and he told me that no one would like to take the risk of grabbing me. Most of the GM saw what happened in Denver and worry my agent would mess up the team again.
Espn: Are you referring to the Howard-Wade incident ?
Ersan:………………………….
Espn: Anyway thanks for the interview and basketball fans would love you to stay in the league for sure. Good bye.
