As most know, Rookie drafts can be somewhat predictable in sim leagues, the #1 pick that year or the best player almost always gets picked first and it's probably even harder to find a gem in the late 1st round early second round. And since Agents don't really have much to do with rookies until their rookie deal is done, I thought I would add a little twist to the draft.
In any rookie draft, you have alot of stuff going on, accusations of a players game not translating to the NBA, potential injury concerns and attitude problems that may hamper a players ability to preform well. This will all apply to this league. Each Agent has 1 "complaint" they can use for an incoming rookie and they can use that complaint for any player except their own (for obvious reasons). They can complain about any one thing that I mentioned or that they can make up. They then pm to me what stats they want lowered, depending on the degree of the complaint. Agents can use the following key to for their complaint
Player lacks something -5 potential
Players is flawed in something -10 in potential
Player won't be able to play in the NBA for very long -20 in potential
now, you cannot skip ahead of any of these things and go for the last option, you must do them in the order you see them above. When you reach the last option and it has been used up, you go back to the 1st option.I'm also limiting the complaints to 1 player and agents can't be "complained against" more then 3 times. Something an agent can do is use the same option again the next year is use the same option and they won't have to move up or down, this is something you can do if the draft is weak or you didn't get to a player fast enough.
Just because someone says something though, doesn't always make it true or prevent that player from playing well. You see this example countless times during the draft. So, the Agent that has the player can write an arguement here for the player to try and convince GM's that what another agent is accusing them of isn't true. They will be writing to try and convince other GM's to draft them but ultimately I have to be convinced what they're saying is true. If they do convince me, I will keep the stats of the player the same and I will let the public know after the draft that it has not been used and the agent can't move up in next years draft. If they do not convince me though, I will give the player the decreases in those stats and the agent moves up or moves down depending on what option they used.
In the case for myself, if anyone complains against me I will write my arguement if i'm convincing enough for a GM or agent, they can pm me saying they are convinced and I will let the public know that person said so after the draft (and they can approve if necessary). If I don't get any pm's in that regard, I will put the decreases in.
All Agents and GM's will help create what is knowen as the tier system, you see alot of GM's use this for their drafts in real life just so they don't reach to far out. The way this voting will be done is each GM/Agent post their tiers just like this
Tier 1
________ _________ ___________
Tier 2
________ _________ ___________ ___________ _________
Tier 3
_______ _________ ___________ ___________ _________
Tier 4
_______ _________ ___________ ___________ _________ _________ ________
Tier 5
_______ _________ ___________ ___________ _________ _________ ________
for each player at the top tier, they get 5 votes, 2nd tier gets 4 votes, 3rd gets 3, 4th gets 2, 5th gets 1. In the case of a tie, the player in the top tier will be decided by a coin toss.Given that there are 7 agents only 1 agent can post up a complaint in the top tier, 1 on the 2nd, 1 one the 3rd and 2 for the 4th and 5th tiers, this is to prevent all agents from attacking the top 7 players in the draft. This will be a first come first serve basis so if one agent beats another agent to a top tier player, the other agent has to settle for another tier.
This is an option for agents to use to try and get their players draft stock up a little so an agent can make more money. Agents can also post in here good things about their player to try and raise that players stock even more, but I won't do increases for that.
